Backyard to Table is thrilled to have worked with two local residents to plan and install raised garden beds this summer through our Garden Build Challenge. Special thanks to our amazing volunteers who offered their time and muscle power on our Build Days to assemble, fill and plant the beds.
Through our Garden Builds we aim to support people to grow food in their places wherever that may be from community garden plots to patio or backyard gardens. For Rudy of Rhinecliff, the two 4’x6’ raised garden beds we installed were just the beginning of his food growing forays! Rudy kept the momentum going all summer by slowly converting different corners on his property into an edible landscape. We also worked with two Rhinebeck Community Gardeners to transform their plot into a dense, easy to maintain, accessible garden chock full of their favorite vegetables.
We are so grateful for the opportunities to share our passion for growing food and love empowering people to get growing. Rudy captured it best, “An almost ripe red-cherry tomato picked off the vine is delicious when its 98 degrees out. Like fresh warm soup.”
